Disaster!

I just played a game against a computer, where I had 4 !?!? possibilities for "mate in one" and I missed them all.

And in the end I lost the game, because I didn't notice that my pawn could have eaten the queen that was threatenign my king. Instead  I moved my king and lost.

Any ideas how to improve?  Such blunders should be easy to avoid.

I'm not even new to chess. I used to play years ago, when I even succeeded in playing a game blidfolded.

Perhaps a slower time control might allow you to think more.
