Almost certain to happen if he stays as the #1 for the next 5-6 years. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't care about chess the way other champs did.
Magnus Carlsen: 2900
carl peaked 2 years ago hes on the slide down to a mediocre ~2800
its all about Giri and Caruana now

yeah, if he can find his spark back. there are other good players no doubt. but carlsen is such a strong player overall that it is hard to appreciate it for the rest of us. he has made some moves that our beyond the horizon of the engines. that is quite something.

Rating inflation will make sure that he does at some time. Incidentally, there are many moves that professional players make which the engines do not understand.

This is because, while programs strictly play the position, humans to some degree are also playing their opponent across the table.

There are still some positions that engines misunderstand even if the move they misunderstood isn't some kind of psychological trick.

Engines didn't consider g5
And of course

Engines misunderstood many variations (Thought Rxf7 was only draw, then after that the eval flutucated alot in the following moves, took 6+ moves later to realize white is completely winning)
These are just my observations from chessbombs stockfish engine (analysis at least 20 ply)
Maybe Komodo 9 with a higher ply would have done a better job of analyzing these brilliant games, but they surely (probably/likely :P ) won't understand it is a win immediately.
Do you think, this, Magnus Carlsen at 2900 of FIDE rating, will happen?
