I fear that Carlsen may be going Fischer.

His refusal to play the Chess Championship and these cheating allegations are signs of increasingly erratic behaviour.

I really hope this is not the case as he seems a really nice guy.

It’s hard to have fun when you’re the best in the world, possibly of all time.

Really unpopular opinion for the OP here, that's for sure!

I think Magnus has been so good for the game. He seems to be able to win in his sleep and makes a mockery of all of the games conventions. He wins ftom outlanfish positions. In a game that appears to many be too staid and bookish he's turned everything upside down. A real personality and good on him. Sometimes the world needs a shake.

Magnus is not good for the game. There have only been 2 QUITTERS in the entire history of chess that have walked away from the title and both of them were whackos.

Watching Carlsen during the last several games, I get the impression that he is not himself. Maybe he is ill, maybe exhausted, or maybe he is just burned out on chess right now, but for whatever reason he doesn't seem to have much energy. That low energy level is the only explanation I can think of for his bizarre draw offer today. Sure, the shorter playoff time controls favor him, but so did his position today. Why not end it when it's right in his grasp instead of heading into territory where he's only favored? I think Magnus is being affected by something beyond his control.

This has never happened before. Why?

@OP - Generally speaking it's best to hold off on going apeshit until you can base it on something more than speculation.
