Magnus carlsen v bobby fischer who would win? Reason your answer
Magnus has more knowledge, chess is developing. Fisher is obsessed and smart, so still could turn the table.
Honestly it'd be a match to see. I'd give magnus an edge
With his sheer brilliance, who knows and Fischer might have taken the cup.
But Magnus has so much precision and endgame calculation that I'd still root for him to win.
I do believe it would be Magnus, opening theory is more developed then it was in Fischers time. And Magnus has had the opporutnity to study Fischer.
I'll take the genius who figured it all out himself over a guy who got all the answers from engines.
I'd put Magnus in the "chess genius" category, too. He's actually known for disliking engines, and scoffing at their lines.
Also, he reached Grandmaster almost half a decade before Stockfish was even invented.
At the time when he was rising, the only home chess engines available were ones like Chessmaster and Fritz - both of which were weaker than Magnus already was.
Most of young Carlsen's playing strength came from intuition. His coach wanted him to study more, but young Magnus preferred reading comic books, instead.
Who needs to study when mastering the game comes easily? (If only we could all be so lucky.)

Its strange seeing people act like current superstars are just glorified engine preppers and there is nothing else to them isn't it?
Then perhaps the real answer is Capablanca, who did win the world championship while living the playboy lifestyle.

Capablanca didn't quit playing serious chess at 30 years old. Carlsen may prove everyone wrong but his last classical tournament was a disaster. Carlsen seems to have a problem with alcohol. Even though I have heard Capablanca described as a "playboy" it was partly because he never seemed to study and dressed quite sharply in public. I haven't read reports of him constantly getting drunk. Q: Does drinking alcohol kill brain cells?
A: Alcohol is a neurotoxin that can disrupt communications of the brain. It also affects the functions of brain cells. This can lead to intellectual impairment, headaches, memory loss, slowed thinking, slurred speech, and trouble with balance and coordination. "Excessive drinking can affect your nervous system, causing numbness and pain in your hands and feet, seizures and dementia."

Fischer is the most creative player of all time! The thing with Fischer is he used to put his opponents in positions, that they did not know anything about. Carlsen has so much opening theory and the most complete player all of time, it would make it very hard for Fischer to beat him. In saying that, if anyone could do it, it would definitely be Fischer. Imagine if Fischer had the disposal of computer engines today, he would be the best all time in my opinion! It is scary to think how good he would have been. But unfortunately, we will never know!
