I'd say that Magnus is slightly better in all aspects of the game.
To be fair to Hikaru, though - Magnus is better than everyone on the planet. There is no player (currently) that we can name who is better than Magnus ...

I'd say Carlsen is about 30 Elo stronger, in each phase of the game (opening, middle-game, and endgame).
This should account for an approximate 90 Elo difference, overall ... (which mirrors their FIDE gap).
