interesting name and status but in relation to the topic, i feel like this might go to court if lethal
Magnus Statement

Regardless of whether Niemann cheated or not, I think Carlsen is being a bit of an arse. He is a chess genius and as such I expect he can be eccentric and/or tempramental.

Well, that wraps it up nicely for Neimann. All he has to do is say that chess.com, Magnus, anyone can release the info on his games, call their bluff, and then he's cleared.
Somehow, I doubt that this will happen.

Agreed
OK, so maybe the 2 richest players are risking a libel / slander / defamation suit in order to persecute a player for beating the world champion as black. Then a top player who publically doubted the cheating implications said Hans made strange moves in crushing him in like 22 moves.
Did Niemann respond angrily and say he would never cheat? No he said he hadn't cheated OTB. Did he respond to chess.com when they said the cheating was much more serious then he let on?
Has Hans been able to play at a 2600+ level in OTB games in which the moves were not broadcast live? How much he did not do well in that Saint Louis tournament after the cheating controls were imposed? Why didn't he crush more top players there, but only in a later online tournament?
Maybe Hans could play a match with a 2500+ player with no audience or broadcasting of moves, and no electronics connected to the pieces. If he does well, that might indicate he really is a top GM.

Could this be the situation chess.com has needed to point to for their upcoming decision to break away from FIDE and have their own world champion - thus beginning another split in chess?
I don't care if they caught Hans with the beads in hand magnus going after this kid makes me lose a lot of respect for him. These paranoid top gms are more worried about cheating than peoples lives or the way the world works. Watched the podcast with fabi he said its only in chess that people get slaps on the wrist not like pro sports which shows just how out of touch these guys are with anything that's not chess. Magnus essentially saying "its me or him I personally shadow ban him from events by saying this" is just disgusting tbh. Then magnus asks to please let the lawyers not sue me so I can further run your name further through the mud what clown show hikaru's response "well yea you totally should let him say whatever if your innocent" what a joke these chess gms are so out of touch with reality. Also wreaks of bias and chess.com affiliation by all parties involved. What makes it even worse is you can tell magnus thinks he is justified in his actions just gross levels of entitlement.

I don't think this is good for major tournaments online. It is so easy to cheat online. They need to play with wood pieces OTB.
Magnus basically just admitted that he wasn't playing at 100% during that round 3 Sinquefield Cup game against Niemann because he resented playing against someone who he believes is a cheater. Niemann's reputation got on Magnus' nerves and the subsequent loss eventually freaked him out enough to make him withdraw from the tournament.
