Making Chess Simpler for Americans
Top 5 reasons why SonOfSorrow will fare better as a writer in Europe:
5) More berets there
4) They have lots more words to work with
3) The sophisticated cartoons are inspirational
2) The women are better so you can just give up on ever getting one and then get back to writing that great poetry
1) Gas ovens are plentiful and always handy for sticking your head into since you don't have a girlfriend and everyone hates your poems and you just can't get the hang of berets.
It's quite curious that this thread is a 100 or so posts long. Testimony to the American value of free speech. However try posting about a country with disproportionate influence over the USA and see how long this thread lasts.
Cal-i-fornia girls we're unforgettable, Daisy Dukes bikinis on top. Sun-kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicle, Oooooh Oh Oooooh.
Quiero a Katy Perry.
Sun-kissed skin so hot it melts all DNA inhibitions against uncontrolled growth. Pasty like an unfrosted Pop-Tart is better.
Are the various countries and cultures of Europe so homogenous? For that matter is America, the melting pot, so easily lumped into one kettle? Are individuals so easily classified? Is this where fantasy collides with reality?
So many questions.
I'm 39 years old! I just would like to know a real man's point of view, man. What is it about european women that made them evolve into such chess-player lovers?
I'll take the blame for that

This is the part I never get. Are we comparing Romanian women to Texan women? Finnish women to SoCal women? Italians to Floridians? You'd think certainty of one group's superiority over another would imply a familiarity with said groups--enough of one to at least recognize this.
these days europe and particularly russia are so much ahead of america that there is no point to compare them at all. it has to do with better leaders better education and bvetter culture
This would be Russia, ranked 148th in the world in terms of press freedom by Reporters Without Borders? (Versus 42nd for the USA.) There's far too much of this kind of mindless America-bashing in Europe (and elsewhere) from people who are so blinded by their own prejudices to see the problems in their own countries.
None of which is to say America's culture and leaders are perfect or that they don't deserve some criticism, but it would be nice if we could all try to be somewhat balanced.

Well, I'm not anything like my neighbor. I may be more like some woman living in Warsaw, Cork, Sao Paulo or Sacramento.

I think that was well stated. America has many, many faults, an entire history of faults, but it has a plethora of good things too - like almost anywhere and everywhere.
I don't how much you've gotten around but in my experiences with women from all over the world in New York - Yes. Better women in Europe.
Yes, I'm sure that women you've met in New York that are from other countries are a perfect example and cross section of all women from around the world.

True; I meant to imply that that principle applied down each sublevel to the individual themselves.

I know. I just like to talk.

And why are they in New York?
