The CBH format is proprietary and closed source.
It has been reverse-engineered (at least) by ChessOK but I doubt that any file format description is publicly available. If it were, I'm pretty sure there'd be wider support for it.

is there a way to manipulate the CBH file used by chessbase?
I was planning to write an app for iOS5 for ipad's only seeing as chessbase's app really sucks.
I am really good with XCode and I am confident in being able to create a somewhat similar chessbase for iPads available for free. But i need to know if it is possible to manipulate teh CBH file being used.
I prefer iPads due to the larger screen compared to ipod/iphone
