I dont think they will do this for you. But if you are that concerned about it just take a holiday and forget to use the vacation flag.

Not really fair on my current opponents though is it? I have thought about it. Maybe throwing a few games and such like but can't really bring myself to do it. Not really the done thing.

Is there any way to do this? Speak to the administrators. I am pretty sure that my rating is way too high for how I play. One reason I can clearly identify is people who timeout in games that are competitive. I get a ratings boost for essentially doing nothing. This might not seem like such a bad thing to some of you guys out there but I would rather my rating be a better reflection of me as a player.
Your rating does reflect who you are as a player on chess.com since all members of the chess.com ratings pool get timeout wins. If you get a streak of timeout wins it will soon adjust when lower rated players take a massive number of points from you.
With regard to throwing games see here http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=711
"Fixing games results (through intentional loss or multiple accounts) is also cheating."

Hm I thought for a long time my rating was far too high, as about half my wins were from timeout. Now I have lost some games, and gone from 1800 to more like 1650, which is more appropriate.

By this do you mean that the opponent was usually ahead when they timed out?
Typically, a primary motivation for timing out is that the game was lost anyway. Timeouts on lost games have equal merit with resignations and checkmates.

I took that into consideration. I can't think of any time when my opponent was clearly ahead and let themselves timeout. There are plenty of games where I have been ahead and they have timed out. The games I was referring to are the ones that seem to me to be on an equal footing.
I guess time is the simple answer to my current predicament.

Certainly your rating will become more accurate in time. You can artificially pad your rating by
- always playing weaker opponents
- selecting opponents with a high timeout ratio in anticipation they will timeout against you
- selecting opponents who are just about to get banned or leave the site
Provided you are selecting opponents without any of these biases, you can trust the system to get your rating accurate.

These almost 2100 rated players have lost more games that they have won. It is not how many wins, it is the rating of the player beaten or lost against. As well it is how have you done recently.

Play the Bongcloud. That way you can feel like you tried and still experience the satisfaction of losing.

Or just do a round of drinking and then decide to log on to chess.com on a friday night when it took you several minutes to figure out how to untie your shoes.
