massive issue with pieces moving themselves lately

I'm almost convinced an admin or something is messing with my games at this point. it's happening multiple times a day, most recently in my latest game, where I won't have anything selected, and I'll click on a piece to select it and as soon as I click on a piece a completely different, unselected piece will move to a square I didn't go anywhere near touching, in most cases just straight up giving that piece away for free. what the hell is going on with this game lately?

I can’t lie this sounds like irony making fun of how people sometimes randomly give up pieces but in case it’s not:
This sounds like a hardware problem or just something from your end because I have never heard of anyone having the problem you’re describing.
Do you play on phone or a device with a screen that you touch? If so it could be a dirty screen or something
Also just check on other devices and if the problem persists then your probably right, the chess gods are out to get you

If you are old school and using a wireless mouse, check the batteries. Otherwise, call Ghostbusters.
Not irony, just happened again in my last game. Completely unselected hands away from the screen, rook moves by itself to a bad square. If it was dirty touch screen it would be a similar move, and it would show the piece selected first. Completely unselected pieces just randomly moving.

There is only one explanation for such ghostly malevolence. You have obviously been haunted by my dead mother-in-law. At least she is only messing with your chess rating. She actually stole money from me from beyond the grave. If you do happen to see her, punch her between the eyes for me.
If it isn't a ghost, you might try running the latest patches on your device and possibly uninstalling and reinstalling the chess.com app. If you haven't rebooted your device in a while, that may also help.

MY PIECES WERE MOVING BY THEMSELVES!!! And not just one, but the whole game, until I had to close the browser but I think the game went on for my opponent with "me" making ridiculous moves. It's March 18, 2026. This better NOT be reflected on my rating. I already reported this, but will write to customer service directly also. My opponent had his chat disabled, so I wasn't able to communicate it was a ghost playing and not me 🥺
