Why does Nolaupt keep posting random threads?

Why do Anthony and goldendog always read them, despite how much they despise the waste of their time?

Maybe Maurice Ashley knows.

He's good but I think Nakamura is closer to a Tiger than Ashley. Who else plays 2.Qh5 and wins nonetheless.

You're telling me! I have a picture handy... Nakamura himself playing 2. Qh5 against me.

I guess I expect 1 thread to be a quality one. Maybe I'm just naive...

And I expect the usual balderdash. Sometimes though, I wonder if his next thread will set the new standard for uselessness.

Debate like an intelligent human being, ya dig that?

I think it should be a requirement to include 'ya dig' whenever posting on NOLAUPT's threads, ya dig?

Again, the aim of my post does not seem to have registered. I was pointing out that commenting on the uselessness of these threads is even more useless than the threads themselves, ya dig?

Karpov once said : " any GM under 2650 is weak" and Ashley's best fide rating was 2504 back in 2001 so he is "weak" according to Karpov.  Wink

You didn't say ya dig, ya dig Surprised

Yes, Maurice Ashley, great as he is, is a low rated grandmaster and not a world beater (but still a good player!).

Tiger woods is possibly the best golfer of all time.

There is no comparison!

Skwerly

Check out this Youtube bit on him.  HIGHLY intelligent, and very caring about our youth.  He's A-1 in my book!

Actually his best fide rating is 2579, which is fairly decent.

Not according to this : http://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?event=2001012

whats your source ?

TheOldReb

On 38 fide ratings lists running from Jan 2000 through July of this year Ashley was only over 2500 on one list and he was 2504 on it.  Do you have some other source ? I go to www.fide.com for such information.

Thats odd kirk because I cant find a fide list with that rating. Is that possibly his uscf rating ?

wingtzun

It says it is his highest achieved fide rating (2579). currently he is a little below 2500 elo though(2465).

Either way, he is still a weak GM ,as Karpov says.

wingtzun

I agree with you Reb, that fide is likely to be the most accurate record of Elo ratings. So, he is probably 2504 max!

I think the OP was off. Maurice Ashley is a great ambassador for chess and an excellent commentator. He was never a "World class"  GM but he was very strong (as is any GM) and a positive influence on chess in the US.
