Maximum number of forced checkmate moves

I analyzed a game I just finished and my opponent had a 19 moves forced checkmate. I can't even process how a human could find those moves, but that made me think about two questions:

1) What is the maximum number of forced checkmate moves in general?

2) What is the maximum number of forced checkmate moves achieved by a real player (I'm assuming a super GM of course, like Kasparov did 1990 versus Karpov)

I think I explained it poorly, sorry. He did not performed the 19 moves checkmate. That position happened casually and then he made a random move.

That is way more than I expected! Is there a video or article about it?
