Medals in Fritz 13

I just bought Fritz 13 and after searching the help files, I can't figure out how to add medals to a game, as in older Fritz versions. It tells how to FIND metals, but not how to add your own. Anyone know how?

Nope.

I don't have Fritz 13, but looking at the manual, it looks like Chessbase no longer wants the user to add medals, for whatever reason. The manual mentions that the program can sometimes add medals, in addition to medals getting added by Chessbase contributors.

Thanks Guys. I'm never buying a Chessbase product again. When I enquired about a purchase, they were right back with a complete answer. Since I've bought their product (fifth time) they no longer bother to answer questions or tech support. It seems like they're always pushing people to upgrade to the newest CB now, by using the tactic of removing features from Fritz. Also, been waiting two weeks on an installation problem for an older version of CB, no answer. I no longer expect one. I'll go with SCID from now on. Can't recommend CB any longer. Get SCID, Arena and Houdini. They're free. If you don't any answers from them, at least you didn't pay to be ignored.

I can't say that I blame you. I bought a couple of Fritzies a few years back, but then I started to disagree with CB's marketing and customer support practices. I finally decided that I could live without them. I can't say that I'll never again buy a CB product, but so far I'm content to do without.

Yep, Arena and Scid are OK. And don't forget Scid vs. PC and also Winboard. While I haven't used Winboard lately, it's not because I dislike it. It's actually gotten more user-friendly, and the developer is fairly accessible on the Talkchess forums. (And the Scid vs. PC developer is also very responsive.)

Why add medals? For me, it's to note which games demonstrate various themes. Or as it's described in the Fritz 13 Help file: "The main use of the medals is to search for games that all belong to certain categories." The medals show up as rectangular icons of various colors (according to theme or category) in a listing of games, or after specific moves when viewing a game's notation.

Wow on not being able to add medals in Fritz 13. I just looked and can't find it either. Presumably it's to encourage people to buy the Chessbase database program.

How can I highlight a game in Fritz 13 database? Rarely, but sometimes I play exceptionally according to my standards and I want to highlight those games........
