Do any of you ever reach out to the suspect? I reached out to the opponent who's clock kept refreshing and he didn't even bother to defend himself. He just never responded, which makes me think that whoever is doing it is fully aware.

I didn´t answer to the person that was accusing me of cheating with the clock. What´s the point? I´m not going to convince him anyway. I´ll just leave after the game ends and play with the next person.
There is no motivation or hype, but alternative explanations that are plausible that hasn't been ruled out. You could be playing a 10 second increment where every move your opponent makes adds 10 seconds to his clock, but your crappy connection makes it appear as if the clock is added to his clock when you make your move. The point is, the clock and game pieces are not in sync at your end with the server.
Refreshing the screen readjusts the pieces back for a moment, but doesn't change how your possible connectivity issues are still unadressed. This is starting to sound like a witch hunt.

Socialista, let me ask you this, are you ok with that people going around and assuming that you cheat to win even though that may not be the case?
Would the right thing not have been to address the issue and forward to administrator. I would assume oyu would want to retain a good reputation as a worthy opponent, would you not?
The point being in all of this is that in my experience with online games etc etc silence generally means guilty, but we're not here to discuss whether silence is conviction, we are here to discuss the clock issue.

If somebody really thinks that somebody rated 1500-1600 is cheating, I will just play with the next person. I don´t need to worry about "reputation issues", since there are more than enough players here that are going to play without accusing you without proofs.
I just have block all the persons that have accuse me of cheating with the clock or those that accuse of using engines.
If you read chess.com FAQ they said something like: "before contacting us, be sure that you can´t just solve the problem by disabling chat". So in this case I just disable chat, and then I block the person to avoid being matched against him in the future.

Yeah, if you havent done it, why waste time listening to idiots. Pardon my language but anyone who is sure about something wrong is an idiot. right?
I trust that LongIslandMark is honest in his assessment, since his replies in other threads have been upfront. Mark, did you know that Master_Valek fellow has been banned? I suspected that to be an eventuality, and as you can see, I'm still here, despite that trolling Valek's callous remarks.
FWIW - my internet connection is fine. And I have a good understanding of when the ten seconds is added to the opponents clock - after his move. This was not the case. Some of you need to take lessons in reading comprehension, or at least pay attention to what is written. It appears that some of you are quick to assume that anyone you do not know is an idiot. While that is often them case, it is not universally true.
Lessons in reading comprehension?
I speak for myself here in that I made no personal attacks. I presented other explanations, like with any other troubleshoot.
Still, the best explanation tends to be the simplest, and it's tough in this instance to believe a player has "hacked" the game so that he can manipulate the clock, instead of what many others have experienced with identical symptoms being a simple connectivity issue. I know I've experienced what it's like to play a game with a lagging connection, and it typically resembles time lapses on when moves have been made, or making moves that were superceded by another move in a separate instance of the game due to the sync issue.
You are absolutely right Mark. I'm going to avoid those types of confrontations, as it's just a waste of energy, and it just makes time here unpleasant.

but in this case it is true lol
Here is another one. His clock added ten seconds every time I moved, at the end. Did the refresh often, etc. Made no difference. I understand that there is a lot of hype about how this can't be done, and a lot of motivation to convince everyone it's not happening, but it is.
