Men's and women's chess should not be seperated

for the same reason that Canada dominated in Ice Hockey for decades, men have dominated in Chess.

Sheer numbers of players. As more women pick up/play chess the gap in elo will also shrink.

Now if some of those back arse wards countries would allow men and women to compete together, I'd hazard a guess that 10-20 years after that it would be just Open tournaments.

Agree. I understand the intent, as far fewer women played chess than men in the past, but the gap is closing.

im not sure though. there is nothing that holds back a woman getting to the GM level yet very few do.

no offense but that stats just show much more men being able to get higher up the rankings then women do. i think the ratio of women GMs to male GMs is 40:2000. any rational thinking person would think that the massive ratio may be biological

you have the brain capacity of a flea.

Do you think (made up numbers, but to make the point) 50,000 women chess players should have the same number of GMs as 500,000,000 men?

15% of chess players are female. your stats are extremely inaccurate.

but why out of the 34 million female players, only 30-40 are grandmasters? if we women are equal to men in chess then shouldnt there be at least a couple hundred more?

Yes, exactly. It's unfair.

Let's introduce some quotas here.!

At least 50% of women players should be GM-s regardless of their ratin.

but that would be unfair to the men and women who actually had to earn it

Kyobir

Idea: introduce minimum percents for titles (e.g. at least 10% of GMs must be women)

Of course, but do you think women would care?

Nuh...

They think that being a woman automatically gives them the title to everything.

that's sexism

No, that's the truth about most women.

You'll agree with me if you get some real life experience outside chess and computer games.

The divorce was that bad, huh?

If you haven't been married yet, you don't know a sh#t about what I'm talking about.

Did she beat you handily every time you played chess?

willyb1989

No they shouldn’t
sndeww

To be honest, most chess tournaments have men and women play together. This isn’t really an issue.

I feel like this thread is a necessary monthly occurence. Someone has to post it every month. I'm glad to have contributed my month in the past.

Sounds like a skill issue to me. Git gud

Is this actually a thing, doesn't the human brain work the same way for both genders and doesn't that therefore mean since chess is not a physical sport we shouldn't be looking at equity but rather equality in the sport
