In live chess settings, you can set minimums and maximums for challenges you send and receive.
One of you has a rating that falls below the minimum that one of you set.
In Daily Chess settings, you can also set minimum and maximum ratings for the game challenges you will play but you can also allow your friends to "challenge you no matter what".
