Missing Checkmate and losing

I was watching a Live Chess tournament and couldn't believe my eyes when a missed checkmate flashed past in the game. (Admittedly, it was a 1min game).

The player who could have mated then went onto lose on time.

Upon rechecking the game, sure enough, 20. Qf8#.

Are there other instances of Master level games, or your own games where a mate is missed and the player goes onto lose?

That's amazing.  Probably frustrating if the guy saw that afterwards.

Another game between the two players started immediately after, so they probably didn't notice.I also left a comment on the game, but I'm not sure if the players get notified.

I will show you a game after todays round of the swedish chess championship in which a 1979 missed a mate in 3 combination after finding the first move. And this was a 90min +30 sec increment and after 40 moves another 30 min.
So yeah, this isn't a typical noob thing. Wasn't it Kramnik that missed mate in one? Ivanchuck did it in a blitz game aswell right?

This is Ivanchuck missing mate in 1 against Anand.

The announcers are very enthusiastic and make these games fun to watch.

What about missing Mate-in-2. I imagine this is very common at lower levels.

I've occasionally had games where I found checkmates after the game.

But the most frustrating ones are when I'm certain there is a mate, can't find it then find out that it was possible.

I was watching a game at my club, where a mate in one was missed.  The player then went onto be checkmated.
