Missing the Biggest Picture of All!

This is a 20 0 rated game I played on FICS today. I want to share this as it's a good example of how one can get so caught up in developing pieces and continuing the attack that they miss a mate right infront of them. Luckily for me, my opponent missed the one saving move and I won. Situations like these are a little different, as most puzzles are forced (when you're delivering check to the opponent king), but yet quite a few times in game there is only checkmate being delivered, but there was nothing the opponent could do to stop it.
mmm, the center counter. you must have been feeling frisky (and rightfully so...
3. Nf3 was laaaame).

3. Nf3 wasn't a bad move because white could have just developed in a different order by moving 4.Nc3 next. 7. ... Qf5 was hanging a knight with 8. Nxd4.
Thanks for pointing that out TraglorfBob about the hung piece. However, 3.Nf3 was a bad move because there was no plan to play Nc3 at any time, and allowed my queen to remain in the center. I'm mixed, as white I will always play 3.Nc3 simply because it forces the queen to either retreat back on the D file or hide out at a5. I suppose you could wait and save Nc3 until you think the time is right, but the question is will black's plan of attack be too strong as you've allowed black to develop with a queen in the center?
