I've wondered what it would be like to meet areally strong woman player.
Mixing Wives or Girlfriends with Chess?

kissinger. I often wonder about gay players a lot. I imagine it could go either way in that household too.

Mixing wives with girlfriends might not be a good idea....
lol...
I sure didnt think chess would come up as a subject of discussion in this case.
got me in stitches, laughing my head off..

Similar reaction here, wondering if that was the "Voice Of Experience" speaking (Reb)....... maybe there is a reason older guys all seem to have grey hair - from their 'learning experiences' - - -

I had a particular experience with my girl. We've been dating for more than 7 years now and played a total of 5 chess games. She understands the basics, but gets really annoyed when loosing. So one day I played an intentional weird combination that would win a pawn for me but set a wining mate-in-one move for her. She won, of course, and decided to never play me again to avoid a comeback.... That went so wrong...

My girlfriend is also my student and we play all the time. The thing is that like most of you we are at completely different levels. Peronally I like a girl with a bit of a brain that is also pretty, but I think that you should not force them to play. If they want to play or teach them then I think that the door has been opened.

And mixing all that with chess simply does not work, either...
xii tanto tuga neste post se à gaijas à mistura lol

My honeymoon is in Sturbridge, Massachusetts for the Continental Open. My wife will sun on the beach, go shopping, etc., while I play my games. She knows how the pieces move, that's about it. We are gone for a week and the tourney is only 3 days, so there should be time for a little bit of everything!

I have had a few girlfriends, unfortunately none of them could play. I tried to teach them. But I got dancing lessons instead. Now I can Tango, waltz, and a couple of others that I am not mentioning

My wife always gets frustrated becuase we are in completely different leagues. I love teaching her but it upsets her too much that she can never beat me and she gives up.
Yup, exactly the same thing here. I have resorted to playing her blindfold games. She is weak enough to where they are a blast, and a great practice tool for me! :)

If you say the word "Chess" to any female, she will invariably respond with "Chest". Unless she says "Backgammon".

I was wondering...how many of the chess players on here try to bring chess into their home life and share it with their wife? Or try to play the game with a girlfriend? Who has tried to get their romantic partner addicted to chess? Or do you prefer they keep away?
Mrs. Cobblepot does not like to play chess. She does know how the horsie moves though.

I, on the other hand, love playing games, and hate to lose, so I would never, ever let her win, and she would eventually get irritated.
I know what you mean. My girlfriend knows I like playing chess, and when we have absolutely nothing else to do, we'll play, just to make me happy she says. I say no, let's do something else, but she really thinks I enjoy playing her (she knows how the pieces move, but any mention of castling or en passent confuses her beyond belief). I don't let her win and that really angers her, ha. We don't play together anymore.
my fiancee used to play chess, but she wasn't as into it as i was, and she gets very competitive. now i don't bother asking her if she wants to play me anymore :) i feel like i'd do the same if i was in her position though. i think there's a saying (or something) out there that goes "the first time you beat your dad at chess is the last time he'll ever play you" lol
