Being a chess mod sounds like a lot of work. You have to read forums, read ban appeals, and probably a lot more. So, how much do they get paid hourly?

The Moderator role has equivalent features to Diamond and it's suggested mods have a regular account to use that gets diamond.

indeed, that is why they ban/mute whoever they want and the trolls are rampant here.

They should treat the mods better by incentivizing them to work harder. Mods have a very important job, and chances are many don't take it seriously if they are only paid in memberships.

Then, the annual monthly diamond membership bill is a mod's yearly salary. And that bill is $119.99. Spreading that cost across 12 months would be $9.99 every month. Assuming you work 4 weeks a month, excluding weekends, mods make approximately $0.50 per day. Assuming a mod's work day follows the schedule of a typical 9-5 job, take the $0.50, divide it by 8, and you get an hourly salary of $0.06.
$119.99 annual salary
$9.99 quarterly salary
$0.50 daily salary
$0.06 hourly salary

Mods don't have schedules and most moderate when they have time to do it

For example, I'm mostly on in the early mornings (my time), evenings, and off and on throughout the day. (10-15 minutes at a time). I'm not always explicitly doing moderation at those times but will usually handle things I run across.

With such a low “salary”, if you can even call it that, it is obvious why there is such a vast amount of trolls.

One's definition of trolling does not necessarily equate to against the rules so may not qualify for moderation. happy

Plus there's so much content that it's pretty much impossible for everything to get seen.

Moderators don't ban/mute whoever they want. If they did there would likely be a lot fewer of the latter in your statement .... surprise
