Yeah I am going to fill that out today evening
Good luck to you.
I was told by a mod that they approach you, and not the other way around, when it comes to being a mod.
By asking, you've basically disqualified yourself

It was always that you were approached about being a moderator, and maybe they still do. But there is also a link on the Moderators club which is to an online form to fill out if you want to be a moderator.

Yeah, if someone really wants to be a mod, it usually means their personality is bad for the job.
But I don't get that vibe from @superchessmachine... I get a vibe that maybe he's too young, but, you know, not that "I like being a bossy prick and bullying people" vibe

Interesting. I hadn't heard about that. I'm sure that they look pretty closely before selecting people. I've also heard that one thing they look for is people who are regularly in the forums and provide helpful information in a nice way, which probably rules me out. Not that I'd want the job. I don't have patience for stupid people and I would close every ridiculous thread.
I would be a very good moderator (hey, stop laughing!) because I'm smart (I said stop it!) and self aware enough (I can hear you guys ) to do the job.
But that also means I'd quit after... I don't know... a month, because it would be too boring to not post crazy stuff, or be an asshole now and then. And instead of doing a bad job, I'd quit first.
I'll tell you what....lets try this. I tried sending an invite to superchessmachine but he doesn't accept invites. YOU and you alone are cordially invited to join this group..https://www.chess.com/club/keepin-it-real based upon your answer in post 20.
Exactly. I was playing 2/1 bullet last night and I was up 15 points material, and my opponent calls me a moron in chat several times while also not moving, in order to intentionally lose on time. What am I supposed to do, just ignore it? Where's the fun in that? Of course I responded and posted some nasty stuff on his wall, but if I were a mod I've have to take the high road. Not happening.
@Preggo_Basashi your account is much too new for them to make you a mod.

For sure it's too new.
They also probably have a pretty good idea of my past here, (or they could if they cared enough to think about it) and so they probably wouldn't want me anyway
But if, you know, some 1 in a million crazy thing happened. Like Erik got drunk and lost a bet where he'd have to make 1 random person moderator, and they pulled a name out of a hat and it was me... I would be able to do it pretty well... and I'd even have the decency to quit before misbehaving like being a jerk to random people
Yeah, but, I mean... no one trusts a new account. If I say I've been here 10 years, then the obvious question is "why do you have such a new account? Were you a naughty boy in the past?" lol
Powers:

They can also warn, mute or kick people in live chess chat/chess TV chat. Apart from that they have the right to use green text and they'll get a free diamond membership.

@jdcannon
Are moderators allowed to prowl the Forum using multiple accounts, provoking and intimidating users?
Some moderators do have a second account. It's useful for playing without constantly being asked for help with various problems, interacting in forums and clubs and being able to express your opinion without it being taken as some form of official statement, and things like that. Moderators have to be careful what we say on certain topics, as anything we say is likely to be taken as chess.com's official position, but using a second, non-mod account lets us speak more freely. It also lets us interact with people as equals; some people feel awkward about talking to someone they see as an authority.
However, for those that have a second account, it's not to be used as cover for abusive behaviour or other troublemaking, and any mod who did that would likely get fired as a mod. Their second account is supposed to behave in a way that will result in it generally having a good reputation (to the extent that it's active; some mods have second accounts that are relatively inactive). If you see someone prowling the forums and provoking people, you can be pretty sure that's not the second account of a mod.
Yeah I am going to fill that out today evening
