@tigraness please block Tanya so she cannot troll on this thread any further and disrespect a war veteran who has served for 21 years.

War is a necessary evil, but that doesn’t mean that we should belittle people who tried their best to end such conflict. Peacekeeping forces are an instrumental part in making our world safer. I’m looking at you, @Tonya_Harding.

To move on, the Lewis Chessman pieces are quite beautiful! Even though they are carved out of stone, in the light they look like gold. Such an important set to represent early chess history.

@Epilogue thanks, but there is no need to block anyone.  I actually do believe in free speech.  I am personally not offended at all since I know who I am.  I was more upset with the stereotypes that were batted about that besmirched our military which I know to be totally false.

@TheBlunderPunisher - That is a gorgeous set.

Just for the record.  I don't drink or smoke and I get high on life happy.png

Thanks, sorry to see you go Tonya.  Please hide your children from us and especially your wives wink.png  Especially since we are all adulterers as you alluded to earlier.....wow from childhood to adultery...now that is progress.  Buh bye Tonya, Here is your participation trophies.png

TheBlunderPunisher

Reminds me of the old insult “You are the human equivalent of a participation award”. Never thought I would use it in a live setting, but hey, works here

Consider that my final shot fired against @Tonya_Harding.

Nancy Kerrigan was always the better skater anyway.

Cease fire! Cease fire! Target already destroyed!

That, kids, is why you never mess with a vet

Oh, get out of here. The time for your bigotry is past. Look how desperate you are; you don’t even have a comeback. Casse-toi, s’il vous plait.

Speaking in the know, to a certain extent, as a former U.S. Army Officer and chess fan during Airborne School and otherwise, Infantry, light and maneuverable, is the Queen of battle. Of course, many an infantryman that is not the Queen in charge is empathetic to expendable pawns, but the King of Battle, is undoubtedly, field artillery. Big, powerful, and slow, but when you win that game, the game is done. Of course, Combat Engineers have the Rooke, the castle, as their motto. Guess tanks and calvary, and air power are between the bishops and knights, with some Queen in modern times. Interesting topic.

Pawns are infantry because they cant go back but always stays in their trenches.

Knights are tanks because they can move through enemy lines and usually supports infantry units.

Bishops are airplanes because they appears when airstrike is needed and you had to provide a good runway for it to fly smoothly hence the so called fiancheto.

Rooks are artillery because they are slow but have a large firepower when positioned well especially in open files.

Queens are bombers because they are fast and have the capability of bringing devastation when it enters the enemy base.

Kings are commanders in a humvie with their bodyguard that explain his firepower.

ROOKS----armored forces (i.e., Tanks; light, medium, and heavy, depending upon the pressure exerted upon the chessboard file/rank)...PAWNS----infantry forces...BISHOPS----artillery forces (both long-range and short-range, depending upon pressure exerted upon the chessboard diagonal)...KNIGHTS----a combination of ground-attack helicopters and APCs...QUEEN----the airforces (both air-to-air combat for air superiority over the battlefield [queen vs. queen] and ground-attack aircraft)...KINGS----Command HQ, along with accompanying elite ground forces...**remember, chess simulates a land battle, so the King will not necessarily represent the leader of the nation unless that leader is also in the field, which hadn't happened dince the 1800s.**
