MONROI IS A FRAUD

Do not buy this Monroi PCM. I just bought it about a month ago for my daughter and it has problem with charging the device. I emailed and called and left message but nothing. They don't bother to call back. Right now I am stuck with the device. It works fine even though I think the software is a piece of sh***t. Once it runs out of juice, I have to open it and see what kind of battery inside.

It is a ridiculously overpriced gadget for what it offers, but quite reliable, based on the feedback I've gotten from friends.

Surprised that they don't do a good job with technical support? I'd advise you to escalate it further.

I don't know who else to call. They have only one number and support on the web page. That's it. So far, I can't export all the games to the SD card so I can import those in their software on my laptop. I am hoping I can replace the battery but don't want to open anything just yet.

But can't you imagine how much cash you are saving on pens and paper? And what about the fight against deforestation?

DONT OPEN IT!! You would void the warranty.

This is all I could find for contact info:

I called that number like thousand of times and all I got is the voicemail. I left numerous messages and nothing. I even tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company but don't know how it goes. I have 60 days to see if the credit is permanent.

This is one of the biggest mistake I have made.

I know it costs a lot but this is for my 10 year-old daughter and she really likes it. It took me nearly 3 months before I pulled the trigger. It's hard to see her face everytime she goes to the chess tournament. Her rating is at USCF 1500 now so I do whatever it takes to help her games. If it's me, I wouldn't even go near that thing.

Dude I got a 10 pack of pens at CVS for like $3.

Plus, most paper is made from recycled material nowadays so it's not as bad. Forests are being cut down for roads, land development and other worthless crap more than anything.

I'm pretty sure heinzie was joking

The Pen-and-paper approach is perfectly adequate for adults, but I do know a few scholastic coaches who bang their heads on the wall when a few of their students bring them their tournament games to go over.

The moves  either look like chicken-scratch, completely inaccurate (co-ordinates/board upside down) or arbitrarily skipped.

One could argue that these little bastards should respect the game more and learn to take down moves both diligently (for every game) and correctly. Or even that the chess coaches out there should be experts at reconstructing games from partial information.

Though it has proven so much easier for them to recommend the MonRoi to the parents.

The kids are probably too busy thinking about the actual chess part of chess. Ideally the adults would learn to remove the uncomfortable constipatory obstructions they seem to always get, but that is about as likely as getting the kids to do paperwork perfectly.

My daughter didn't write this bad! But she misses a lot of moves (hers and opponents') and sometimes it's hard to reconstruct the game.

I own a monroi and I find it quite useful. My notion errors have basically gone away from trying to figure out what i wrote down. Great to run the games through chessbase after major events.
