Hi, i'm casual player who love chess and aim for 1500 rating. Currently i'm bouncing on 1100 - 1200, most of my lose game was blunder and when i win see i make quite a lot of mistakes but opponent do more mistakes than me.

I had limited time for playing chess, let say i had average 2 hours everyday to play 10 min chess should i use my 2 hours to play 6 or 7 games or should i always analyse every game that i play, mean while i had to play less game if i analyze every of my games. Usually i can only play 3 matches in 2 hours if i analyze my own game.

Advise would be appreciated

@deaf_blue_bottles and vizllsto thank you for the thoughts.

I mean i analyze the games using computer after i finish the game. I can go to history and find match history and analyze it with computer. Which is take around 20 minutes to analyze it.

So if i play 3 games of 10 minutes it takes around 60 minutes and after that i analyze those games with computer help for 60 minutes.

Meanwhile if i'm not care for analyze the game and i use my 120 minutes daily free time to play 6 games. Which method is better approach to aim for my target to get 1500 rating ?

Just play as much matched as i can in 2 hours and ignore analyze lesson with computer

Or

Play less matches in 2 hours and use the remaining time to analyze it with computer?

You don't need to analyze that long with computer. A quick blunder check of 5 seconds per move is enough for your level.

Try shortened game play .

Play longer games, 15+3 at least. Stop the analysis with computer and analyze games on your own at first. Draw conclusions and then you can check with the engine if you missed critical stages of the position. Blunders will reduce with the games, however if you want to climb steadily, you need to improve strategic part of the game which will only develop if you analyze games on your own.

@deaf_blue_bottles i understand now. Thank you for the detail explanation. I think i can manage my time better now. Seems like i always get carried too deep into analyzing thing instead to focus on that big picture

I understand your question but there is no  Clear answer to whether you should only play or should study more..

 My answer do both...

You can play for 5 days and then analyse the games in the last 2 days... First analyse on your own then a quick engine run would be good

You definitely need to up your puzzle solving. Rapid games, or slower for conscious blunder checks and seeing tactics. You don't mention openings, do you generally play the same few first moves? There's a decent chance that IS an opening, and there are specific attacks/defences for players who know it, to wreck it from the start. It's useful to learn to recognise those at least as you progress, and then you can check what you're meant to do when you see that on the board.

There must be a balance between play and analysis, about 50% - 50%.
Analysis without play is sterile.
Play without analysis makes the same mistakes over and again.
