Mouse Slips.

Hey! I'm sure I'm not the only one who this has happenned to before, but very often, I commit a mouse slip.

For those of you who don't know, a mouse slip is when you move your piece somewhere, but accidentally, your fingers or your mouse slip and you place that piece at the wrong spot.
Maybe we could add a system where in the chat, you can tell the other player you commit a mouse slip, maybe with a special command, so that if you speak different languages they understand, and then it's up to them to use logic and figure out if it was just them lying because they made an error or if they made a mouse slip.
One can stand a few mouse slips, and I've done them a lot without getting mad or anything, but  when it comes to ruining entire checkmates like what happens to me and misplacing my queen which gives it away, I start getting quite annoyed.

cool

Fishooker

i think that other chess site has that feature.

Some people don't care if your move was a mouseslip or not. They are happy to take whatever hanging piece you mouse-slipped.

😅

I’ll normally just resign if I make a mouseslip that throws the game but if it’s manageable to carry on without it I’ll just play on. That’s what I’ve seen GMs do in online tournaments so I figured we should do the same. It wouldn’t be fair to ask the opponent to have to care about our own mistakes

You can set it up where every move you need to make the move and then click yes. Similar to how you can’t mouse slip a resign. It takes more time but if you are playing rapid, which is the only one that matters except classical, you have time for that

Yeah that’s me. People don’t spare me when I make a mouse slip so I wouldn’t either. That way it evens out

It’s too much to ask. Because it might not even be a MS, it could just be a blunder

Very relatable, happens to me many times. Lost a few due to mouse slips. That's why I like playing chess on the board!

Mouse slips could easily be patched with an undo button.

But then people could abuse this when they blunder, and say it was mouse slip

I think they could add a setting that requires move confirmation as in the daily games

If make I mouse slip it's entirely my responsibility. It happens because of my sloppiness or time trouble, because my mouse was not in good condition or I was playing on a tiny touch screen. It can be for whatever reason but it has nothing to do with my opponent so I will not expect him to offer me a draw or a takeback. And vice versa, I will not spend even a second of my time to try to understand if my opponent has made a mouse slip or just blundered. A move is a move, period. I think it's the most straightforward, honest and simple approach.

idea: either don't drag the pieces and instead try to just click instead, or simply don't use a mouse

hey

hamelqz

how to make it so that it shows what move I made (like the best, diamond, and so on)

wdym? Diamond isn't a thing unless you're saying the membership. If you want the analysis, well you only get 1 game review of a game you played each day (unless you put every single move into the analysis under "Learn")
