Mouse slips are the bane of my existence.

I absolutely without a doubt hate mouse slips ESPECIALLY when they cost you a game that you most definitely should have won. I am by no means a master, but after long calculations, it sucks to just "slip" it all away and lose.

even worse is during the end game, you might have the slightest chance of winning but then in a second it just disappears. I'd rather lose straight up than lose to a mistake.

It's like I can feel my opponent pause just to make sure I haven't come up with some brilliant move, laugh, shake their head as they take my piece, and lean back because they know it's over.

Why can't we have the option to confirm just like on mobile?!

(breathes deeply) Rant over. Time to play another gamegrin.png

We are planning to add the option to confirm for web, but I don't think many people will like it for faster time controls. Having to confirm each move is going to put you are a serious time disadvantage compared to people who don't use it.

It will likely takes you ~1 second at least to hit confirm. If you play a 60 move game, that is giving a whole minute advantage to your opponent.

I am willing to bet that you will lose more games on time because of confirm move than you would lose due to mouse slips.

Thank you for the response jdcannon! I definitely did not expect to hear from a Staff Account lol.

I understand the time advantage goes to the opponent, but I rarely find myself in intense time scrambles. I guess I just need to be deliberate with my mouse and keep that finger pinned until I know for sure that's where I want the piece.

You're welcome! I try to read and reply to all the suggestions. Chess.com figures if you spent the time writing to us, we can spend the time writing to you.

I had a mouseslip problem a few years ago and I agree it's very annoying.  I replaced, actually upgraded, my mouse and the issue disappeared. It was a night-to-day experience.

I wrote about this years ago.

I was amazed to find it on google.

Most of my mouse slips are on a touch pad.

Just to confirm, it is not a confirm popup or dialog or anything.

You throw the piece say using drag and drop and your mouse is already over the target square.

So you just tap the mouse button on the actual square to confirm.

Just need a slight change in the graphics to indicate the suspended state on the square.

Then the player knows they need to tap the target square that now has the piece moved.

haha, thanks for your input Fixedthx. I have taken responsibility. I was just venting a bit, but I appreciate your straightforwardness. I obviously know where the problem lies hence:

It's very annoying, but sometimes it will happen to your opponent.
