Move list Vs Chess diagram move sequence

I am fairly new to chess, and am learning rather fast.

I have been scrolling through different topics listed on the forum. I find it really easy to follow move digram sequence, but when people often post a move list

(ie: - just an example I copy/pasted, you get the idea

If 5 b6 Ra5+, 6 Kb2 Rb5+, 7 Kc2, Rxc1, 8 Kxc1, Kd6 catches the pawn .

6 Ka3 Kd6
7 Ka4

)

I get lost really fast and need to have a chess bord to follow and move the pieces one move at a time.

I am wondering if other people feels the same or It is just something i need to pick up through practice.

Thanks !

The tricky part is that everybody uses the notation in a slightly different way and everyone is being lousy and making careless typing mistakes. So yes you'll need some patience with it. Sometimes you'll have to ask yourself when you see a silly position accompanied by messy notation: do I really want to know what this random guy is raving about?

you have a point.

What really interests me is knowing if top players can actually look at well written sequences and visulaise the moves and board layout without having to move pieces one at a time and see at each stage how the board looks like.

If so, I have a long way to go in my learning :)

Thanks, this cleared things up!
