My first game analysis! How'd I do?

Short but sweet (at least for me, haha)

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 h6 4. d3 Bc5 5. c3 d6 6. Qb3 a6? Planning to ‘get’ the bishop with (7.... b5?) but my opponent had his plans already. 7. Bxf7+ Thought the plan was bad, but after (7...Kf8 8.Bd5 Nge7 9.O-O g5 10.Be3 Kg7 11.d4 Ba7) I’m losing. Kf8 8. Bxg8 Rxg8 9. g3 Na5? Missed Qf6. Oops. 10. Qd5 Oof, losing a queen. (Best was 10. Qd1) Bh3? Don't know what I was thinking, Looking back 11… c6! was best. 11. b4 c6 Finally trapping the queen. 12. Qxg8+ Forced Kxg8 13. Bxa5? Qf6 14. Nh4?? Whoa, I thought the mate was obvious! A bit like scholar’s mate. Qxf2+! 15. Kd1 Forced Bg4+! White should resign 16. Nf3 Bxf3# 0-1 Finishing him off.

If your black, you did great. White gave you some good opportunities to take advantage of him. Some of your moves where more advanced than the 800 rating your sporting. Finding 11... c3 was particularly impressive for your skill level.

Thanks! I've been stuck at about 800 blitz and 1000 rapid. I know I'm more advanced, but sometimes I miss a tactic and that causes me to lose the game, thus lowering my rating. (And yes I was black)

After 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4, it is considered to be not worth the time to play 3...h6. Black can proceed immediately to 3...Bc5.

Besides a6 which was probably not the best play, You managed to play well throughout. You got a swift mate, which doesn't happen very often at your level, Good job
