My Game Disappeared !!!

Happened a couple of times now. During a game where I seem to be winning, the opponent "disconnects" and "reconnects" a few minutes later, whilst his clock is still ticking away. Message says opponent has re-connected, but the game has disappeared, the message box does not work and I see later that I have lost the game (and precious points) under "game abandoned". I never abandoned. What has happened here ??
