The next 8 games @Jesus_is_our_savior beat me, but I am getting tired now, so if you want to see my aweful blunders, go to my game archive!

StephenCorelli

@Jesus is much better than me, but, nevertheless, I like playing higher rated players

BronsteinPawn

Blitz is monopoly

You asked about potential to become GM, playing with stronger players is cool, you should spend most of your time praciting tactics tho (if you want to improve therefore increasing your chances of becoming a GM), I have been where you are now just recently (a year or so ago I was about your strenght) and I wish I had studied tons of tactics as everyone said now that I look back.

StephenCorelli

Wow!

StephenCorelli

This is awesome!

StephenCorelli

My hope/goal is to be 2100 rapid by the end of 2017! If you did it in 1 year, than so can I! I am spending 4 days a week studying, 1 day off of,chess, and 2 days playing, so I hope I improve quickly. I do my tactics trainer every day, and am 1450 rated in tactics

StephenCorelli

Thx

BronsteinPawn

Mmm, 2100 on rapid looks too high.

I would recommend you to set a goal of 1800 USCF standard by the end of this year.

Also, did I mention you I never took a day of chess? Part of my relatively quick improvement is the high ammount of time I put into this freaking game.

BronsteinPawn

Here is what I would do myself if I was at your strenght with the knowledge I have know.

Daily routine:
1 and a half hour of tactics on chesstempo.com (I would do 2 and a half, but thats because I am very obsessive)

2 hours of reading the Winning Chess by Yasser Seirawan

1 hour of reading a random annotated game collection from any player, Morphy would be a good start

And I would also try to get as many long games as I could on Saturday and Sunday, at least 30 min per player (ideally 45+45 or more), then you should annotate those with your thoughts and analysis and share them here on chess.com

That looks like a solid routine to me, and if you put the work in it you should be at least 1700 USCF or something like that.

BronsteinPawn

5 tactics per day are not enough, I have done 2,000 tactics and I still hang pieces, trying to get 10,000 tactics in lol.

StephenCorelli

That is great, but I can only spend 2hrs a day on chess, besides, I can't buy a book(I don't have enough money

StephenCorelli

I am 14. I am limited on the time I can spend on the computer. I don't want to, but my parents have made taking a day off chess mandatory.

urk
Shouldn't this have been posted in Game Showcase?
