My nephew beat HOUDINI?!?!

Thats really impressive that he beat Houdini but to win one match as white and not play as a black doesnt really mean that he is a genius. Its like  playing a game against a GM and winning but never winning another game isn't genius-like.  If he played 5 games against Houdini and won 3 I would be utterly amazed.

I beat Houdini a few months back. (Then again, I'm 34 years young and had it set to 2000 strength.) Can I be smart too?

Yeah man, it is your duty as his uncle to make sure he gets in that k-12 scholastic tournament so he can win a scholarship.

It is all in your hands now. Your sudden interest in chess piqued again for a reason.

This is your mission.

The world and your brother's son is depending on you.

Do NOT let the family down.

Over and out.

I'd be looking for the communication device, that he has hidden.

What do you mean ?

I believe the OP he lost terribly all games they played to his nephew.

As a kid, I also beat my uncle in chess.

The Houdini part of the story is just imagination.

If you submit to the standards I set, one of which is he'll play houdini on my machine, then I will pay you $10,000 for every win or draw the kid achieves.

However for every loss you'll owe me $10.

Minimum 10 game match.  He can be white every time, that's fine.  Be sure to bring $100 extra cash, more if you want to continue after 10 games.  Large bills if you don't mind.  No checks.

Lol I'd be careful in the event he actually manages to draw or win one game! :p

Contempt value fixes idiotic 3 move repetition draws.

I don't have to worry about him winning lol.

Ignoring the fact that the thread is probably 100% BS, sounds like he has Aspergers which is on the autism spectrum.  Would explain the social issues and the fact he loves chess.

It means you don't understand Houdini's strength (probably because you are not the best chess player).

Someone who can win once agasint Houdini is at least on GM strength, someone who can win 3/5 against Houdini is at least on Houdini's strength.

really? if I played houdini 50 times as white I'd expect to get a draw or two. it's quite possible that if this boy is real he is 2000 level and can get a draw.

Nice story.

Have you ever played houdini (running on modern hardware)?

In any case I have the same advice for you.  Bring $100 extra cash.  No checks.

Little known fact: the word "gullible" is missing from the Merriam-Webster's online dictionary.

You misspelt Gullible. All the new dictionaries give it as Gulible.
