My opponent uses a computer

Stop beating up on this guy... he's not 'cheating' in the immoral sense -- he isn't lying to anyone! He's playing chess the way he enjoys it (and there is skill to what he is doing) ... but what he's doing is against the current site rules ... (I say "current" site rules because I think they are going to allow a separate person+computer section, soon... there are people that enjoy playing this way, including Garry Kasparov!)

Pling you shouldn't have to play someone using engine help against your will. He shouldn't be allowed into tournaments. I'm sure the admins will straighten him out. But I think everyone should stop acting like the centaur player is some combination of Axe-murderer and moron... he's just a computer chess enthusiast.

The staff may well be evidence gathering. If I write on my profile I'm a murderer it doesn't make me one, you still need the proof. I'm sure the staff are addressing this matter however need more then just a statement on his profile page to take action and don't want the suspect alerted at this stage. How do you prove that someone is using a computer?

In this case you don't have to. He admits to it himself, making no exeptions.

well i think your right pling, why should they get away with it? i wouldn't think that cheats will be protected by the staff, and things must be proved before we drag them to the stocks (bagsy 1st cabbage!) but surely if they claim/admit to cheating they are not only bad sports but also bad at cheating? good luck with sorting this out pling, i hope someone looks into it, and if anyone else reading these comments has had problems like this they should add to it. i did see one get kicked off last week with a rating over 2500, how many people did he steal points off? he should of been caught before then? so, lets get them dug out

is stealing candy from babies OK if you're telling them you're doing it?

Since he has openly stated he is playing advanced chess i assume he is simply mistaken in thinking engines are allowed, they are allowed on some chess sites/associations. I would have just messaged him and pointed out the rules.

Pling any finished games by a cheater stand, I have had games against 5 or 6 players who have been banned, any completed games stood.  It would be very difficult in practice to undo all the rating differences as to who I had played since and who they then played etc.

JG27Pyth: By your definition I may be beating on this guy, but by my definition I'm only letting my frustrations out, and I think it should be "allowed" considering the circumstances. The time and energy I spend writing this is nothing compared to the time and energy I spend over the chessboards at chess.com most days.
The thoughts you have about the future rules here at chess.com have already been fulfilled: It's perfectly legal to play Advanced Chess at this site, as long as it's unrated and agreed upon beforehand. Even Garry Kasparov, doesn't play Advanced Chess games that has affect on his rating.
