My Rematch Request Was Rejected!

bmiscoski,

you sound like a really nice person. One who has empathy. You have the old-fashioned values that I was espousing yesterday. I could continue to challenge you to replays, safe in the knowledge that you would take pity on me and decline - unlike many other heartless characters who only seek pleasure at my expense.

Unlike the others, I take your comments VERY seriously indeed. (My tongue seems to be glued to my cheek - must get that checked out)

Obviously, this thread is a parody (although evidently that's not at all obvious to some).  But if you also like (or prefer) serious threads, visit Favorite famous game and post one of more of your favorites.  Annotations aren't necessary but they're cool.  Add some comments on the game's background, the players or what you like most about it.  That helps to keep the conversation going.

Well, evidently announcing the thread is a parody was a mistake.  Perhaps when some read that disclaimer, they thought, "What the hell?!  I wouldn't have wasted my time posting if I thought it was a joke!"

All posts are welcome - especially the ones that include more than punctuation.  wink.png

It could have been his/her bed time, maybe they had to cook dinner, do homework, put their sibling to bed, put their kid to bed, or their battery was at 8%.

Maybe the opponent refused the rematch request because something inevitable came on his end... like he got dumped via chat or got indigestion from the 3 day old pizza he was eating during previous match or his wife forced him to go go buy groceries right then

So many possibilities.

What kind of feeble excuses are those?!  He shouldn't play one game if he doesn't have time for two.  He should've known that he might win and if he did - that he would have a moral obligation to allow me to get revenge!  I cannot believe you're siding with the coward!  shock.png

They really need to add an angrier smiley.

No.  So many feeble excuses.  When denied my God-given right to a rematch, I shall fight on the beaches, I shall fight on the landing grounds, I shall fight in the fields and in the streets, I shall fight in the hills; I shall create a forum thread!

Okay, I didn’t realize you were joking earlier.

No problem.  I specialize in subtle humor.  wink.png

It's possible that the person got brainwashed to only play checkers for the rest of his life.

Since time immemorial, every decent chess player has agreed that if you lose a chess game, your opponent is morally obligated to make it best two out of three. What's more, it he gets lucky again, he is honor bound to make it best three out of five. And if that one in a million event occurs, well then there's nothing left to do but make it best four out of seven.  And so on . . .

This post deserves to be re-posted for the benefit of those who missed it.  Obviously micky understands that when someone agrees to a game, he implicitly agrees to continue playing until I have a winning record.  That's what I'm entitled to.  Only a knave or coward would fail to honor that agreement.

If you're referring to micky, no way.  He understands that agreeing to play a game is a long-term commitment in the event that one gets lucky and wins.
