Play blindfold chess.
My School Just Banned Chess.com

If there is research that proves this then I want to read because I highly doubt it.
I don't think it'll get you all the way there, but chess requires you to plan ahead which is a helpful skill in any job.

Letters of recommendation should come from your undergraduate professors. Mine did, but they didn’t matter. My GRE scores got me in.

At least cool maths games isn’t blocked!
my school unironically has coolmathgames blocked

I used to bring a chess board to my school but one of out teachers got so irritated she threw the board, and she's blaming me for it, even though I was in another class. Now we can't bring the board anymore. My brother got so angry he roasted the teacher. Chess improves our brain, and teachers are not allowing it. Sure, during class, it's not allowed, but my teachers are not even allowing it during breaks, because we're getting too 'addicted'.
If the kids are so addicted to chess.com, why doesn't someone start up a chess club and use chess.com for tutorials? Chess is good for the brain!

When I was in high school, I had trouble even looking at websites with chess tournament info, cause game filters detected it as a "banned content". This site itself worked fine, but not online articles about chess, it was ridiculous. I agree with the OP, 97% of school is pointless and do not go to college. It barely helps you yet a job and you don't make that much more than if you go to trade school or become a UPS worker/Truck Driver. As a 5 year degree college graduate last year, I can personally affirm this to be true. The bar is set too high in school these days.
Chess.com is restricted in my school, but lichess and chess-kid(which is babyish) work fine
