I was playing a blitz game awhile back QGA the guy tried to hang on to the pawn and I took his rook in that well known trap…. then lost the game anyway.

Ugh.
Chilling_on_Wednesday

the point: sacrificing the queen like this is suspicious.......very suspicious

So my opponent decides to sacrifice his queen on move 3 for just a pawn . And I am up 8 points worth of material right in the opening . At 1700 this should be enough to safely pull out a win , isn't it ? Guess what ? I managed to lose the game .

My Self Respect and Confidence after this game :

My condolences! I know how that feels.

If you're interested, here's an easy way to refute this (or other similar sacrifices on f7), if you ever come across it again:

Basically, you just think "castle by hand". And you simply keep an eye on the g5 square.

After you've successfully castled by hand, then you can go about attacking white's central pawns, and developing your queenside pieces.

But castle by hand first.

My friends always called that "No Hassle Castle." (Reaching the castled Kingside position by moving the Rook and King separately)

The No-Hassle Castle. I like it. Has a nice ring to it.

I've done much stupider things,

Say for example, there was one time when I was in a tournament, and my opponent was a 2400 or so, and I was only playing this individual because I was time cheating. I find it very interesting that these other individuals don't question what a 1000 rated player is doing in a GM tournament, but the dumbest thing I did was, I tried to play footsies with this guy to mess up his game, but,

ahem.

I accidentally kicked him...."you know where"

The gentleman got up and just left-hooked me a knuckle sandwich, he broke my nose, he knocked the table over and I just flipped over backwards in my chair and hit the back of my head on the ground.

Boy, did that hurt!!!

I think I was hurting more than he was!!

never thought that could be the repercussion of time cheating, turns out it is!! =)

I commend your opponent's response. Nobody should have to tolerate indecent assault.

Go in a grave.

Then come back.

It will boost your confidence saying that you managed to survive in a grave.

Something to distract you from this...

DEATHREAPER29

That's rough, buddy.

Vincidroid

Hey, at least you got your opponent's queen.

Nate6586

Rugged business.

OH MY GEMMA EDNA IVETTE!!!

AY NAKU KUYA!!!

I got 10 Questions correct IN A ROW!!

This one was tough for me, even after 1 minute 50 seconds, I STILL answered incorrectly, I didn't see how powerful that passer was.  I played RxR, incorrect, but played AFTER the pawn push.

As we always say, passed pawns are criminals!!
