Hello everyone, I wanted to first congratulate you on defeating Covid 19 (well, at least in Hungary it's almost back to normal), regardless these have been very tough times for all involved. It was a great sight to see the explosion of online chess during, a game that we all love and wish to promote.
The problem that has plagued online chess for a very long time is that of cheating, most common is the simple point and click use of another site or program to receive within 2-3 seconds a very powerful move.
Let's face the facts:
1-Every modern chess player has cheated at least one time or another.
2-The act of cheating reduces the nobility of the game, even to thyself.
3-Cheating is unavoidable, but can be limited.
My idea - Change of the base game, and revert to more historic rules:
1-Castling is not allowed.
2-Pawns can only move 1 square at a time.
While Castling can easily be switched off in a setup position for an engine, the change to the pawn's movement will deter a very large amount of cheating.
My goal, if possible, is to allow mid-high slower games to occur without the nagging fear of your opponent using hints - every time, or occasionally.
The change to the software required on the site's side is very minimal, while on the cheating side it is a much greater task to deploy new algorithms.
Thank you for reading.
Hmm, well .
You can't discuss cheating or how to stop cheating in the forum. Chess.com doesn't allow it because people always start flinging accusations, etc.
There is a club called the Cheating Forum that has loads of guys who will debate these things with you all day long.
/ Changing the game is sort of the same idea as Chess960.
