My standard rating grew without me playing?

Yesterday I was under 1200 now I'm over 1300? I don't see how it would change over night without playing. I'd already had 2000 games to determine my rating. One game i was around 1180 now i'm over 1330?! It did give me to confidence to smash a 1400 rated player tho next game lol.

I dont find this amusing my rating jumped more than one hundred too. Nor i nor my competitor is at that level, something is wrong with the system

No they didn't, read that whole thread. I know I didn't, and to be honest it doesn't bother me at all.

Martin0 is right!

And finnhans, worry not.  This is occuring for every player, so the level of your opponents will not increase.  We are doing this because we had a deflation issue with standard ratings (and only the standard).  With the increased rating, your score is more accurately reflected when compared with the rest of the site.  I don't know about you, but playing a 1750 NM just doesn't make sense to me :D

There were also some very steep climbs because the rating pool was "squished" so the new rating pool should more accurately reflect your skill increases.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to drop us a line:

Martin is not right! My rating is exactly the same as it was yesterday.

PS not true any more, I just beat a 1660 player who was on 1500 yesterday (Live Standard).

Some of the members you lost to got beat by a higher scorer than you. Something like that... err try and think about that.. or members you beat lost to lower score members. Like the NCAA tournament in march.

Dam Shaun Yell;  you staff people take all the fun out of these threads.Surprised  We could of had a hilarious time with "finnhans" for weeksCry  I don't find this amusing one bit. I'm launching an investigation, and when I get down to the bottom of it, heads are gonna roll, believe you me. Playing around with our rating is a violation of our civil rights, the 13th amendment, and the Geneva Convention. I won't be able to sleep for weeks now, knowing that SOMEONE leaked private information about me on the web. Erik is gonna pay for my therapy sessions. And futher more your Honor, future generations of chess players will refer to this as "CHESS-GATE" or "The Great Rating Scam of 2014" in a blatant attempt to wrongfully USE people as pawns, and monopolize a greater market share and CHECKMATE an unsuspecting public. I also contend that  I have NO idea how those 27 chess sets got in the trunk of my car, with those "ALLEDGED" dead bodies.

I thought something was 'off', damn, sounds good to me.  I was noticing though(over the last coupla months), that some lower level players seemed MIGHTY strong.  I chalked it up to evolution.
