500 is probably close to the number of people who are fairly active on the forums. But there should be a far greater number of people who visit the forums every once in a while, or who have been to the forums at least once. The fact that the "advertising" is for freakin' ridiculous "services" like black magic, voodoo impotence cures, and mail order marijuana may hint at this being more of an elaborate prank.
The passports/counterfeit money spam is relatively normal in comparison.
