Capturing the King


I agree with Lasker1900. Chess is not war. Chess is a game, and there are rules to the game. War has rules too, but they can be ignored sometimes without consequence. I agree there could be changes to the rules to make the game better, but taking the king isn't one of the changes I would favor. Besides, a checkmate is for all practical purposes taking the king. The opponent has no options to retreat, his king is yours.

Chess is pretty good for me as it is. You see, there is a lot of variations, as 960, king of the hill, and so on. I am very found of chess as it is, Stalemating, Drawing, and so on are parts of the richess of the game. IMHO. So, if you wish to change the rules, try the Chess 960 or other variants topic, and propose your new variation there. Enjoy yourself, my friend, as the song says, and live long and prosper.
