Caruana and Nakamura have never played in a candidates' tournament. Nakamura has been dealing with pressure longer than Caruana has, so I give him a slight edge over his compatriot, both in this tournament and in the Candidates.
Carlsen has Naka's number. But Naka's currently #3 in the world (behind Topalov). It should be a great game, but unfortunately for Naka, the type of game Naka loves to play will be precisely what Carlsen will be looking for.
Despite the title of this thread, Carlsen will have white in round 6 when he faces Nakamura. I rather like Carlsen's chances, even tho I'll be rooting for the American this time.
Carlsen's poor start to the tournament has been expensive in terms of rating points. In contrast, Nakamura has picked up points in his 2.5/3 run so far, sitting in first. On the last rating list, they were seperated by 74 points, while that gap is only 52 points, and set to be smaller with Carlsen having to play a solid Anand tonight (even tougher with the pressure he is facing). This looks like next years possible world championship matchup, but the main point is how do you think this will play out over the tournament? Naka and Carauna are definitely making strides on Carlsen
