;) Right, I'm just giving you a hard time...don't take it seriously. As a Christian I actually agree with most of what you're saying...but that's because I agree that a lot of social realities are evil, not that they aren't real. Nation States are real...evil, maybe...but real.
To me flags represent the way each group of people ( call it a country if you like) choose to govern themselves. Humans need an identity, it's what makes us human after all. I'll never understand this desire to blend everybody together into one giant grey blob of humanity and call it utopia. Some may want monarchy others democracy others may actually (gag) seek socialism. Anyway this whole Kum -by -ah idea that we're all one big happy family is the hallucination. I was born and live in the USA but I am extremely unhappy with the way my country is going so I choose to play under the flag of my ancestors. At least for 3.5 more years.

And what is the first thing you say to someone you meet? Hi I'm denner90 and you are? Im from so and so where are you from blah blah blah. You identify youself therefore placing yourself in a group and region and all the information that goes with it. If we didn't have identity we might as well be animals, well some of us still are but that is a different forum topic.
Irish Americans can be fun indeed! And from where do you draw that conclusion? From your past experience with others who identified themselves as such, yes?
