Need explanation please.

1) Why does stockfish recommend White to move -> Qxa5 for a possible Queen trade, whilst White is down a Pawn?

2) Would a safer move (based on White being down 1 Pawn), not be to play Bxa5?

Either move is very close in evaluation.

But white is already up a pawn, not down.

White is up a pawn and will be up 2 pawns after the capture on a5. Why take with the Quuen over the bishop? Simple rule: Trade pieces not pawns when you're ahead material.
