NEVER have a full stomach before playing chess games.....general rule.

during the game you can have a snickers bar or whatever for the sugar rush, but eating a LOT before a match is NOT a good idea.

Allow me to explain....when your body is digesting the food in your stomach, a lot of your blood flow, which should be headed toward the brain, is instead redirected towards the stomach.

I know it may seem obvious to a lot of people, but people make this mistake all the time, in both OTB chess and live chess.

Cheers, and have a great day!

Bananas are a good example of something you can eat before a chess game, as it provides potassium to the brain which will aid thinking and calculation.
