No one ever says "Good Game"?

I always make sure to say Good Game and say that they were a good sport. I thought it's interesting that in all my times of playing so far, no one ever says "Good Game" back to me, even when I lose. What's up with this? Has etiquette declined even in Chess?
EDIT: Someone posted about telling Chess.com to stop matching him with a computer player before both his post and his profile got removed. Could it be that I've been playing against AI the whole time, despite me setting it to play against humans? Could it be why no one said "Good Game" back?

If it's rapid, long and high quality game and I feel like my opponent doesn't cheat, I do say gg and we even make friends sometimes. Bullet and blitz are just pure garbage low quality clock games, I literally don't care about the games, results or my opponents, just going from game to game

Why do you have so much expectations from a random player lol

No one taught me to say good game after do a chess game. I learned that such thing exist by looking at the chess.com chat after a game. So it's not my habbit to say it and I only do it when I remember. Maybe some chess players are like that or maybe some people don't know there is a chat on chess.com.

It's a courtesy no different than saying hello. Its rude not to return it unless they did not play a good game (i.e., let the clock run out after making no moves). If they played fair and tried their best, it's just good manners to say good game. Can't believe so many folks never learned manners.

The vast majority of players have chat off because of the rest, who are very toxic and yell at their opponent if they lose. It’s extremely rare to find a nice person with chat on.

EXTREME -- is dead wrong most people here are nice people - its people with negative attitudes that make the place a neg place most people here don't have their chat off- they usually don't speak the language or can't type fast enough to respond before their next move -- after the game most people i play will respond -- that's usually because i lose most games and they say nice game -- which i always respond nice game for you because i lost because i blundered more than they so i have no excuse - so i say nice game - unless they use that four maneuvers and win with my queen gone deal -- then i get a little testy outside of that most people play with heart and good cheer -- so stop being a debbie downer type person and look at the the glass half full rather than half empty type of thing

I've sometimes wondered - if the game is over, and they've gone on to another game, or into analysis in order to review their game, and therefore have navigated away from the live game page, will they even see your game message if you enter one?
