I only just recently started reviewing games like this. If anyone has the time to explain the centipawn loss category I would appreciate it, thanks.
Not that great
Centipawn means one one hundredth of a pawn, which is not much of a pawn.
Chess Engines express an evaluation as a positive or negative number to the second decimal place. So +2.31 says that White (positive) is evaluated as having an advantage of over 2 pawns as the best move, in the judgment of the program. If the player makes a move judged to give an advantage of 0.53 pawns, then that move has a centipawn loss of 178.
53+178=231 is the arithmetic of it.
Ever win a game against much higher rated opponent and realize after that neither you or your opponent played that great? I beat a player about 500 points higher than me last night and went to bed feeling like a champ. This morning I checked the game with the engine and realized I wasn't making great moves, and my opponent was making worse ones. Kind of bitter sweet, I wish I didn't check. I played white.
I hope I'm allowed to post this game here. If not please accept my apology and close the topic, thanks.
