Is the old yahoo chess version still available to play at. It was when you had default names like ace, wizard, tiger(my favorite) etc... And there was no chat I think and your opponent could even request to take back a move I miss and love that version so anyone know ?

I played on yahoo all the time starting in 2002 up though about 2007.  I don't remember this at all.  Was it linked to yahoo messenger somehow or where you going to the site?

Also people often said / say that it's full of cheaters.  Sure anyone ~2000+ rating range was usually a cheater but nearly everyone else was honest.  This was many years ago but even then people were saying this and I don't think it was true.

I played at Yahoo I think as far back as 1998 and I don't recall any version that didn't have chat. I know takebacks were pemitted.

it was located in the the kids game section i believe and the board colors were green and white but the pieces still black and white and advertisements of kids shows were on the homepage of the game section.

yeah it was and is true. I would bet half the time you are playing against silicon there.

if you recall there was a bot that constantly advertised "gambitron", a ~2000 strength engine, in the chat providing a link for download. all people had to do was click it, download, press start, sit there and watch the thing play. takes 10 seconds. you think people weren't doing that all the time? naive. of course they were.

I'm not conjecturing, I actually played there every day.  About 330 days out of the year.  If all you're doing is feeding me some vague fear spawned from seeing that advertisement what can I say except you don't know what you're talking about?

Maybe the time control I used cheaters didn't touch.  Usually 3/0, and 3/1.  What time control did you play, or are you guessing like most people seem to do...

I never played in the kids section. I can understand chat being restricted there.

even playing at G 10min the play seemed honest even from those closer to 2000. In the new version you dont even become rated untile you probably lose or draw and your considered PRO and not even rated until then and not all the PROs players are cheats in fact im still one! but everytime I go there theres rarely anyone even above 1800 so I kept the PRO mostly by luck of the draw so far but I go on yahoo very rarely anyway.(the new version that is) if I could I would love to play the old version again.

We're not talking about advertisements.  If you have a point, say it directly.  e.g. "I believe because of the advertisement that most people downloaded it and used it to cheat"

But I already covered that by saying I have actual experience and I'm not guessing based on the advertisement.

I still play there quite a bit. Just last week I played many games someone over 2000 who clearly wasn't cheating as I won some of the games. I think I've only ever played an engine on there once. There were other people in the room and the user I was playing chatted while playing moves at the same time saying it was a bot that was playing, but then he said I was also a bot. I said after the game that I wasn't a bot and left. Also very often I'm accused of cheating in the chat when I play well. I think there's a lot more cheating accusations going on on that site than actual cheaters. My rating there doesn't often stay about 1800 for very long as my blunder rate is pretty high late at night, though, and it is pretty rare I run into players above 2000. My problem with the site lately is the "email" feature no longer seems to work for me, and when I can't look at the game later and learn from it it seems even more a waste of time. Maybe I'll have to try playing on this site some day.

Yes, it is.

I miss old yahoo games back to 2007 in which we could chat and read all the funniest chats, what happened?
