Merci. Dropped below again on the very next game, and then clawed my way back.

#7 you play better when you play less? That is the most pathetic thing I have heard all day. No wonder your on tilt. Jesus Christ.

It's the same with me. I know it's difficult to understand that sometimes people have different issues. For example, some people learn better visually, and some learn better by listening.

And some people just choose not to learn.

do you learn the best by discussing your games / their games with people? like, listening? just curious due to our past typed conversations and similar lack of stuff we do around chess learning.

Talking is a much better medium, yeah. Reading chess is grating.

Playing less helps a lot of people. Maybe blitz2000 doesn't realize how much some people play...

I remember seeing one forum where the OP is saying playing 50 bullet games was tough or "stressful"

I'm like, hah... only 50?

A while back we had a day off for school since the seniors were taking some exam so the rest of us stayed home. I played five hours of bullet, going from 2330 - 2400 - 2240 - 2320 and then i stopped. I played around 120 games that day of bullet chess on my mac, and it was not a great experience

Yeah, I think I've regretted it every time I've played over 100 games in a row... but sometimes it's hard to stop grin.png

A win makes you feel good, so you want to play again.

A loss makes you feel bad, and you can't end the session like that, so you want to play again...

Ziryab

I've played eight hours of bullet, leaving my seat to refill my water glass or use the loo.

It tends to make me grumpy, as my wife is happy to point out.

I can relate, not on such a high level, but nonetheless. My puzzles are consistently hovering around 2100, but I can't seem to gain the needed momentum to climb the rating ladder. I'm 1500 at best, which my online rating doesn't even reflect. What openings do you use?

I play a lot of different openings. Lately the French Defense as Black and the Italian as White have been frequent. You can look at https://www.chess.com/explorer?moveList=d4&ply=1&gameSource=other&gameType=all&color=black&username=Ziryab

Yeh I WISH i could do it a lot easier, but it kind of hurts my brain. Am too kinesthetic / ADHD w/e.

Luckily am friendly and social and have already got a handful of players that I can talk to on lichess and discord and learn effectively with some back and forth lately. One and a half of them is even from Russia

Broke it today, then kept playing.

Have you ever struggled with addiction? Have you ever played frantic chess for six hours because you lost one game to a noob?

A solid 5-10 games with some post-game analysis and some actual study is much better for my game than ten hours of blitz.

The same story with me. (

After my silly sudden loss I can't stop playing.

And I hate myself for that.

The past 90 days.

I cannot break 1800 in rapid. I was there in August but cannot get back. Before I started playing so much 10 0 in Arena, I was over 1900.

I must be getting worse.

I can't get back to my 1600 rating in blitz and bullet. Started out at 1200 when for all ratings when i signed up. Almost made it to 1700 in bullet then lost too much.

Mine's strange. Just saw my explorer:
