Online chess a whole different beast from live chess?

I consider myself to be a decent amateur but I keep finding myself making stupid blunders in blitz games. I play in blitz tournaments and have had good results before; it really frustrates me to keep losing to everyone, even those who I thought based on the way they play was much weaker than me. What are your thoughts?

How long are the games. For most people, if they are 5 min or less blunders will be made

Yes, it's very different. I see the board differently, notice different things, manage my time differently...

I much prefer OTB.
