Online vs. Offline

ive wondered the same thing, but i dont think that it does. FYI lifting weights does not hinder your ability to do pushups, it is the other way around. when you are only benchpressing your own weight, you do not build muscle nearly as fast as if you were benchpressing weights (unless youre only benchpressing your weight which defeats the entire purpose.)

I play so much better on the screen than i do off

i guess its because you can see all the pieces in front of you and its 2D

You will just need to do things to keep your board sight keen. When I am analyzing chess.com e-mail chess games, I have taken to setting up my real board in front of my computer. I'm sure you could do this in the longer time controls of live chess. And, of course, you just need to keep playing otb.

I bought a small magnetic board for just that purpose, actually. That and taking it to school. :)

i can compare chess with everything. Because i am a painter when i draw lines on a papaer is different than making a drawing on the computer. i believe that anything who can be replaced on the computer, by acting kills the spirit. in the case of chess.com, the chess spirit is dead

I guess I'm the opposite of most folks here.

I've just recently begun my first game here, which is my first game online anywhere.  I've been playing since I was 7 or 8, but it's always been on a real board with real pieces.

I scored 90240. is that good?

Well, if the goal is to improve your knight vision, the real question is how much higher will you socre next week?

Though it is true lifting weights does make your muscles build, but it doesnt improve your push-up as well, nor as quick as doing the push-up...though i do not have a link to the source, but i am sure you can find it on "Men's Health Magazine" website, that body builders and people that lift straight weights could not perform the same amount, nor at the same rate of push-ups as those that did push-ups on a regular basis..

I go to the gym 2 times a day...and i run between 4-5miles a day, Let me restate what i ment i went back and read my original quote, its not that weights can not help your push-ups, but it hinders your push-ups compared to someone who actually does push-ups....weights actually make your push-ups sloppy, and slower....thats good on the tredmill 30mins a day..what is your speed?

It depends what you are looking at when you play chess. Personally i do not look at pieces so 3D or 2D does not matter Wink
