Probably.
openly gay chess masters?
Why would there not be homosexual Chess players. I mean, there are plenty in football, a sport you wouldn't necessarily consider!

Okay, there are 1,300 grandmasters, and approximately 10% of the population is gay, so there should be about 130 gay grandmasters.

10% of the population are also left handed. Coincidence or gay / left handed conspiracy

If there are 1300 GM's, 10% are gay and 10% are left handed, it means that there are 13 gay-left handed GMs.
If you add 2000, you get 2013.
Coincidence or a Mayan / gay / left handed conspiracy?
You have taken a statistics class? :D

In the past I had a great interest in chess history and chess personalities and I read everything I could get my hands on but still never knew until last year (from a post on this site) that Tal had a deformity of his hand. I guess no one ever thought it was worth mentioning as he was a great chess player and that's what was important. It's probably the same thing here. Unless a chess master would make it an issue himself, it just doesn't come up since it doesn't matter.
